Located amidst the magical waters of the Great Barrier Reef, Orpheus is a secluded island hideaway accommodating just 28 indulged guests at any one time. Access is via a 30 minute helicopter journey from Townsville over the coral-studded sea or a 90 minute private helicopter journey from Cairns.
Orpheus showcases a plethora of once in a lifetime experiences! Its principal dive sites boast 1,100 of the 1,500 species of fish on the reef; the local waters are a fisherman’s playground and home to the most sought after reef fish species in the world; and guests can take the helm of a motorised dinghy complete with gourmet picnic hamper and discover the many pristine coves and reefs that fringe Orpheus. Alternatively, Orpheus provides the perfect backdrop for a more private interlude if guests wish to simply relax and succumb to a unique signature-inspired treatment at the island’s Day Spa. Accommodation rates include all gourmet meals, a selection of quality wines, beers and soft drinks, all-inclusive mini bar and gourmet snacks, a daily curated Orpheus experience (local snorkel, sunset cruise, guided hike, cocktail class, low tide walk, wine tasting, and whale watching (when in season)), and unlimited use of motorised dinghies, paddle boards, kayaks, catamaran, snorkelling equipment and light fishing gear. Not to be missed is the island’s signature ‘Dining with the Tides’ experience; an intimate degustation dinner under a starlit canopy on the lodge jetty (at an additional charge).

THINGS TO DO ON THE GREAT BARRIER REEF
Find a great range of things to do on the Great Barrier Reef at Orpheus Island resort. Our activities are complimentary and included in the stay. Guests can also take part in the daily activities run by the island.
SNORKELLING
Explore the clear azure water surrounding Orpheus, see the many species of reef corals and fish in an incredible array of colours. Enjoy unlimited use of snorkelling equipment during your stay. Venture to the many nearby snorkelling spots on the Great Barrier Reef including the protected Giant Clam Garden just in the bay. Guided snorkelling tours are run as part of the daily activities on the island.
FISHING
The Great Barrier Reef is a fisherman’s playground, the surrounding waters teaming with fish. Light fishing gear is available for guests to take out at leisure. Fish from one of the motorised dinghies or for the avid anglers take a trip to the outer reef.
DINGHY ADVENTURE
Motorised dinghies are available for our guests to explore the many neighbouring beaches, go snorkelling or try your luck at fishing. Take a chef prepared picnic and find the perfect sheltered bay for an intimate private lunch.
PADDLEBOARDING
Try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding and enjoy a bit of light exercise while taking in the scenery. You might even be lucky enough to see a green turtle.
KAYAKING
Guests can take a kayak and explore the mangroves just off the shore, within the sheltered bay.
SAILING
Take out one of the island’s catamarans and venture out into the surrounding waters of the sheltered bay of Orpheus Island. The conditions around Orpheus are perfect for sailing.
