North and South Island 8 Days and & nights Fly-drive
Day 1: Arrive Auckland
On arrival at Auckland International Airport, you will be met and transferred by private car and driver to your hotel. The remainder of today is at your leisure in Auckland.
Day 2: Auckland – Bay of Islands
Collect your rental car this morning and depart to the Bay of Islands. Travel north across the Auckland Harbour Bridge via the Hibiscus Coast to the beautiful Bay of Islands.
On arrival a guided visit of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds is included.
This afternoon enjoy a cruise through the dazzling waters of the Bay. Weather depending, you will have the opportunity to cruise through the “Hole in the Rock”.
Day 3: Discover the Bay of Islands
Today is at your leisure to explore the Bay of Islands. Perhaps a trip to Cape Reinga (own expense) at the top of the North Island. Or take a short ferry ride to Russell and explore this historic village.
Day 4: Bay of Islands – Auckland
This morning is free to explore Northland at your leisure, before travelling back to Auckland.
Day 5: Auckland – Waitomo – Rotorua
Travel south following the mighty Waikato River and through the prime Waikato farmlands to Waitomo. Enjoy a guided visit through the subterranean Waitomo Cave, concluding with a boat ride to see the lights of the glowworms. On conclusions travel south to Rotorua, renowned for its geothermal activity.
Day 6: Discover Rotorua
Today visit Te Puia Geothermal Reserve, where you will see boiling mud pools and steaming geysers. The remainder of today is at your leisure.
This evening, enjoy a Maori Hangi and Cultural performance at Tamaki Village.
Day 7: Rotorua – Auckland
Time is available today to enjoy further activities in Rotorua before heading back to Auckland. Perhaps a stop at “Hobbiton Movie Set” located in Matamata in the heart of New Zealand, where you step into the pastures of the Shire, as featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. (To avoid disappointment we recommend that you pre book this activity well in advance).
Day 8: Depart Auckland
Return your rental vehicle car to Auckland Airport.
