On this day trip from Sydney, learn more about one of Australia's great underwater treasures: akoya pearls.

Take a short drive to arrive at the Mooney Mooney waterfront, where we catch a boat for a gentle cruise across Hawkesbury River to NSW’s only pearl farm. Here you’ll chat with the farmers and workers who are responsible for harvesting Broken Bay pearls. Afterward, expect a delicious lunch set against a luscious landscape before heading back to Sydney in the afternoon.

  • 8.30AM Pickup from Private Address or Central CBD Location

Your informative and knowledgeable guide will collect you before heading north to the waterfront region of Mooney Mooney, approximately 1 hour from Sydney. Our destination is NSW’s only pearl farm, established in 2003. For the first time in 15 years, the pearl farm opened its doors to allow a unique tour of the facilities and to educate interested travellers about the industry. Broken Bay’s akoya pearls are known around the world for their unique colours and shine, and this is an extremely rare chance to get hands-on with some of the pearl harvest from both WA and NSW.

Go behind the scenes on a pearl farm tour

This unique 2-hour experience will allow you to meet the people behind the pearls as they share their expertise with passion. After an introduction by your pearl farm guide, board a comfortable and safe tour vessel for a cruise to the oyster farm.

On this stunning waterway, you will hear about Australia’s pearling pioneers and how it all connects to Sydney’s rock oyster industry dating back to the late 1800s. You will witness a pearl harvest and learn about the farming techniques used. Once we’ve made it to the farm, you’ll learn more about pearl grading & valuing from experts.

Depending on how you’re feeling after your pearl farm tour, you can upgrade to include a locally sourced champagne and oysters pairing before departure.

Savor a 2-course lunch in the bush

Enjoy a short scenic drive from the pearl farm to our lunch venue. The 10-hectare property in Mount White is known as Saddles. The restaurant's name is a nod to the craftsmanship of Heath Harris, an artisan saddler. Here enjoy a 2-course lunch including tea and coffee. Other beverages are not included in the price but you are welcome to purchase wine, spirits, beer, and more.

4.30PM Arrive back at Private Address or Central CBD Location

On conclusion of lunch, we commence our return drive to Sydney to arrive back at approximately 4.30pm
