Join us for a unique outer reef tour where the Sunlover catamaran docks alongside a floating pontoon stationed in a natural lagoon fringed with beautiful coral. Our marine biologists, dive instructors, qualified lifeguards and cruise attendants have only one goal: to share their passion for the Great Barrier Reef and ensure you make memories that will last a lifetime.

With a range of included activities and exclusive use of our custom-designed floating pontoon, all ages and abilities can explore and enjoy the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. With clear water, colourful coral, abundant fish life and friendly resident turtles and Maori wrasse, Moore Reef is the ultimate destination to experience all that the outer reef has to offer.

Swimmers of all abilities can snorkel in the natural lagoon or stay dry with our semi-submersible and glass bottom boat tours. You can also visit our underwater observatory to discover the world’s most impressive natural fish tank and get up close and personal with marine life in our touch tank presentations. Young kids can have fun in our enclosed ocean pool or swirl down Sunlover’s 30-metre spiralling waterslide into the tropical ocean. A trained lifeguard is always on watch from an elevated lifeguard station, and there’s easy entry to the water from two snorkel platforms, both of which are accessible by stairs.

For those who want even more adventure, you can add to your reef tour with a guided-snorkel tour, Seawalker helmet dive, introductory and certified SCUBA dives or take to the sky for a scenic helicopter flight.

When is the best time to travel to the Great Barrier Reef
up pointing arrow icon
The Great Barrier Reef is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of our visitors, who have a wonderful experience no matter the weather.

Cairns has a tropical climate and experiences hot, humid summers and cooler, dry winters. Often when the weather is cloudy or rainy in Cairns it can be the complete opposite on the outer Great Barrier Reef. However, if you wish to change the date of your tour then we are more than happy to do so for you (subject to availability, adequate notice and inline with our cancellation policy).

Will the sea conditions affect our day
up pointing arrow icon
Sea conditions vary every day. The pontoon and catamaran are very stable and safe. If the rare occasion occurs and it is deemed that it isn't safe to operate due to sea conditions, passengers will be offered travel on an alternate day or will receive a refund.

Passengers who are prone to motion sickness are advised to take necessary precautions such as motion sickness medication prior to travel.

Will the water be cold
up pointing arrow icon
Cairns is located in Tropical North Queensland so the water temperature is very pleasant all year round. Approximate average water temperatures throughout the year are:

December-February 29C or 83F
March-May 25C or 76F
June-August 22C or 72F
September-November 25C or 76F
How deep is the water
up pointing arrow icon
The water is between 5 and 12m in depth off our pontoon, depending on the tide. We supply life jackets free of charge for extra buoyancy and resting stations are dotted throughout the snorkelling area.

Do you offer discounts
up pointing arrow icon
At different times during the year, we advertise special rates for some of our Great Barrier Reef packages, tours and activities. The rates advertised on our Prices page are the best price available as at today's date.

We also offer discounts for locals who live between Mission Beach and Cooktown. Contact our Reservations team via phone or email to book local rates.
